Part 1:
B) Find a video on the internet (via youtube, vimeo or a similar service) that is relevant to the study of communication. That might be a video of a lecture or presentation, it might be a news report about a communication/internet theme, whatever you like. It must be related to new communication technology. You need to work out how to embed it into your blog and provide a short description of what it is and why you chose that video.
Description: The following video was recorded in June of 2010, and shows several images of the future of communication devices. I have chosen this video as it features a detailed outlook of possible technological devices in a decades time.
C) Find an application that allows you use or analyse some aspect of the web more effectively - report on the application and some preliminary findings you have made. Who has found the most interesting analytical tool?
With social media giant, Twitter, taking the world by storm, it seemed appropriate to research possible ways a Twitter "newbie" might be able to use Twitter to help organize day to day plans. The following article from sitepoint.com lists seven successful apps that can "Change the way you use Twitter". After reading the article, TwitHawk is perhaps the most useful application for users looking to set up and maintain their own business or market an idea.
Part 2:
Write a post about how you use new communication technologies to communicate with your friends and family.
As an aspiring sports journalist, new communication technologies play a big part in my day to day life. Most importantly, Twitter and Facebook allow me to communicate with friends and family, while I am also able to receive exposure on articles I have written by posting tweets or links to the world.
I first found out about Twitter/Facebook through friends and the media. The popularity Twitter received from celebrities prompted me to making my own account, basically because it seemed like the "cool" thing to do.
In that time, I have developed several online friends - particularly in the United States and through sportswriting. Although I have never met these people in real life, after talking for nearly four years online, our relationship seems just as strong as my own relationships with close friends here in Australia.
